BioBank Co., Ltd. was founded in June 1974 by Dr. Iichiroh Ohhira, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024.
Building on Dr. Ohhira's research, the company first began manufacturing and distributing agricultural materials such as fertilizers utilizing its proprietary fermentation technology. Over time, BioBank steadily expanded its business into the fields of health foods and cosmetics.

A defining feature of BioBank's proprietary plant-fermented extracts is the inclusion of what we refer to as THREEBIOTICS^®: Prebiotics, Probiotics, and Postbiotics. In addition, we are deeply committed to research in core technologies, including lactic acid bacteria and plant-fermented extracts, and have built a solid body of scientific evidence supporting our technologies and products. Since first launching our products in Malaysia in the 1980s, BioBank has expanded its presence beyond Southeast Asia to markets in the United States and Europe. Today, our products are trusted by customers in more than 35 countries worldwide.

In March 2023, BioBank became a member of the NIITAKA Group. The NIITAKA Group is a corporate group centered on NIITAKA Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of professional-use detergents and solid fuels, and includes several companies engaged in the production of chemical products and cosmetics. The group is also actively expanding its global business operations. Through this capital and business partnership, we have gained new perspectives, resources, and strong support, reinforcing our confidence in achieving further growth together with our partners.

Guided by the NIITAKA Group's mission statement of "Four-Way Co-Prosperity" and its long-term vision of "Helping the world shine -- clean, beautiful, and sustainable," we will continue to leverage our fermentation expertise with an even stronger commitment to supporting health and beauty for people around the world.
